John is Finally Gone (My Second Tribute to John MacArthur)

Author: Pankaj

John is finally gone.
The prophetic voice in an age of apostasy and compromise,
the great expositor of our time,
the defender of the true faith,                                                                                                                                                      the fire-breathing Calvinist,
the tireless champion of the inerrancy, infallibility, and sufficiency of Scripture,

the shepherd of shepherds (trainer/mentor/example),                                                                                                          the man of men (an illustrious man),
the model of integrity—
as a servant of God, a husband, and a father.

Like John Knox, he feared none but God.
A thorn in the side of heretics,
a terror to the the health-wealth-prosperity preachers,
a constant irritation to the Charismatics,
a firm defender of biblical Complementarianism,
a stench in the nostrils of homosexual activists, feminists, and corrupt politicians,
a standing rebuke even to compromising reformed/evangelical preachers,                                                                        an avowed enemy of seeker-sensitive pragmatists,
the target of Julie Roys, Beth Moore, and everyone else offended by truth,                                                                      the Martin Luther of the 20th and 21st centuries,                                                                                                                  the author of “Gospel According to Jesus”.

To millions, he was beloved.
To many more, an abomination.
To Satan, he was an unshakable menace.

The servant of the Lord, the man I had always been afraid to lose ever since I found him—
is finally gone.

But has he?

No.
He has left behind a tremendous legacy—
in the form of his Study Bible,
New Testament commentaries,
hundreds of books,
and thousands of sermons.

Grace to You has committed to continue disseminating his resources.

John’s voice will not be lost, like those of the Puritans until they were recovered by Banner of Truth in recent decades.

Though dead, John will still speak. He will forever be cherished in our hearts and lives.

To God alone be glory for him, for he was not his own doing, but the workmanship of God.

May the Lord raise many more like him.
