Some People’s Theology:
God did not predestine us to be saved; we have a part in it. Christ has done all that He had to do. We use our free will to come to Christ. It’s we who come to Christ by exercising our free will.
Their Prayer No 1:
They pray like this, “God please have mercy upon my brother. Please lead him to your Son, Jesus Christ. Please change his heart. Please save him.
Our Comment: But isn’t that a contradiction? They should pray like this, “God, you have done what you could. Thanks for making us all savable. Now, let my brother exercise his free will to come to you. He is the creator of his destiny. Let him do as he pleases.
Their Prayer No 2:
We have nothing good in us. It is not by any virtue or righteousness or intelligence in us that you saved us . You saved us by your grace. Thank you Lord for being so merciful to us.
Our Comment: But isn’t that a contradiction? They should pray like this: “Jesus, you died for all. You are so good. Thank you. You see our neighbours love darkness and unrighteousness so much that they did not come to you, but as for us, we loved your light and righteousness so much that we chose to come to you. You see, God, we tried so hard to win our neighbours, but they are so foolish. But as for us, we are so wise that we accepted your prevenient grace and chose to come to you. We did our part. Give us glory that is due our name.
Their Prayer No 3:
O God, we were dead in our sins. Thank you that we are born again and now belong to you. Help us live for you.
Our Comment: But isn’t that a contradiction? Your theology says God did not predestine you to eternal life. He did his part, you will do your part by accepting His grace. Your prayers should be like this: “ O God, thank you that we were only sick in sin. We, unlike many foolish sick people around, chose you as our doctor and gave you the permission to heal us. Thank you.”
